Frequently Asked Questions

A First Aid certificate is typically valid for three years. However, it’s important to note that the CPR component of the certification needs to be renewed annually. This annual renewal is in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and is often a requirement by employers to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations. Regularly updating your CPR skills ensures that you are prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations.

CPR certificates should be renewed annually to comply with the guidelines set by the Australian Resuscitation Council. Annual CPR refresher training is required to ensure that skills and knowledge remain up to date and effective, aligning with workplace health and safety regulations and best practices in emergency response.

A First Aid certificate course covers a wide range of emergency situations and medical conditions. Topics typically include managing bleeding, burns, fractures, and other injuries, as well as responding to medical emergencies like heart attacks, strokes, and allergic reactions. The course also includes CPR training and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Yes, we offer flexible blended online training for HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), enabling you to finish theoretical parts at your pace. Check the courses tab for suitable programs. Note that Australian regulations require a final practical face-to-face assessment to verify competency, with First Aid Pro providing various options for this final evaluation.

The CPR refresher certificate requires retaking the HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course. Initially, the course takes 3-4 hours, but the annual refresher is shorter, usually 1.5 to 2 hours of face-to-face training and assessment. This shorter duration is because students already have a foundation from their initial certification.

The DRSABCD action plan stands for:

Danger: Look around to make sure it’s safe for you, the person who is hurt, and anyone nearby.

Response: Check if the person can respond by gently shaking them and loudly asking, “Are you alright?”

Send for help: If the person doesn’t respond and isn’t breathing normally, call 000 to get emergency help.

Airway: Open their airway by tilting their head back and lifting their chin.

Breathing: Check if they are breathing normally by looking, listening, and feeling. If they aren’t, you need to start CPR.

CPR: Do chest compressions and give rescue breaths to help keep their heart and lungs working.

Defibrillation: Use an AED (a special machine) if you have one, and follow its instructions.

This simple guide helps train you to know what to do and act instinctively to save someone’s life in an emergency!

Yes, a First Aid certificate issued by a nationally accredited training organisation is recognised across Australia. This means you can use your certification in any state or territory, provided it meets the standards set by the Australian Resuscitation Council and other relevant authorities.
